The Smokin' Pilchards, fronted by Falmouth musician John Cartwright, have released their first music video featuring the town's beaches and docks.
The song entitled Lost at Sea, a soulful lament to being cast adrift, was written by John and was released in 2018 as part of the debut album Into The Brine.
The video, filmed by brother, Ed Cartwright, follows the misadventure of a small toy sailor and his catamaran, left abandoned on a beach by his owner he is washed out to sea, his fate uncertain.
The entire video was filmed around Falmouth using only a mobile phone and edited on a home laptop.
Ed said: “I wanted to see how much I could achieve using only basic technology available to anyone, we take mobile phones for granted and I wondered how far I could push the technology.”
Smokin’ Pilchards are a folk/blues band with members spread between Falmouth and the West Midlands.
The Smokin’ Pilchards will be appearing in Penzance at Summer Sounds Trengwainton on July 6 and they will be back in Falmouth at Hillbillies’ Bar on Saturday, August 24, before playing in Newquay at Bar Socio on August 25.
