OWNERS of a dog which ran off after hearing gunshots are desperate to find him.

Rufus, a nine year-old Staffordshire bull terrier cross, disappeared at Kynance on the Lizard Peninsula on Sunday morning.

Holly Evans, who was walking her parents' dog, said: "He heard gunshots and ran, he's never done this before.

"We have had no sightings in the area so he's maybe further afield. We've had the cliffs checked with a drone and have walked miles around the area and continue searching everyday."

Holly, who lives in The Lizard, added that Rufus knows the area very well, as he walks there frequently.

He is light brown with a white beard and white patch on his chest. He was wearing a black harness and collar when he went missing. He is microchipped and neutered.

Holly added that he may be hiding because he is nervous.
