Cornwall Wildlife Trust’s largest business donor has provided the conservation charity with a welcome boost for the start of the year with a donation of £13,000.

Frugi is one of Cornwall’s most successful brands producing organic children’s wear. It created the Little Clothes BIG Change project to donate one per cent of its annual turnover to charitable causes through customer voting.

Ruth Williams, marine conservation manager for Cornwall Wildlife Trust said: “Frugi’s latest donation to Cornwall Wildlife Trust’s Living Seas programme is simply amazing.

"I am humbled by the support Frugi’s fantastic customers has given to help us better protect our seas and the wonderful wildlife that lives in, on and under the waves. It shows how important the seas are to so many people, and we at Cornwall Wildlife Trust will do our utmost to put this valuable funding to best use."

“It will be spent on helping to protect dolphins from being caught in fishing nets; to monitor some of our weird and wonderful wildlife like the spiny lobster which seems to be making a comeback after decades of decline, as well as working with local communities and young people to help them reduce their use of plastics and clean up their local beaches. Frugi is the Trust’s longest running business donor, with more than ten years of annual donations totalling over £135,000. This has helped the Trust to fund a continuous programme of marine conservation which has trialled technology to stop dolphins being caught in fishing nets, and secured laws to protect marine life.
