THERE is still time to sign up for an epic cycle ride across the west country in aid of Children's Hospice South West.

The 11th annual Ride for Precious Lives takes place from Friday, July 12, to Sunday, July 14.

The 205-mile route starts at the charity's Little Harbour hospice in St Austell and takes riders all the way to Charlton Farm hospice in Bristol, via Little Bridge House hospice in north Devon.

It is open to cyclists of all abilities and the £230 entry fee includes food and hotel accommodation, a ride jersey and first aid and mechanical support over the three days.

Cyclists are asked to raise £1,000 for the charity, which relies almost entirely on voluntary donations to support more than 500 children with life-limiting and life-threatening illnesses and their families across the region.

Since 2009, 835 cyclists have taken part in Ride for Precious Lives, raising £869,000 for CHSW.

The event is being sponsored by Clevedon-based engineering company Edwards Vacuum for the seventh year.
