Pupils at Mullion Primary School are in the good books this week after putting in so much effort into a whole-school literary project.

To mark World Book Day this year all pupils were given a plain white T-shirt, with the task of drawing their favourite book cover on the front, complete with blurb and recommendations.

This meant that every child had the same chance to get involved in the day, while also giving them the opportunity to think about what makes a good book and practise their art.

A school spokesperson said: "Pupils had terrific fun showing off their art work. The whole school made a fantastic effort, with parents and families joining in to design and personalise the T-shirts. Teachers, teaching assistants and the office staff also came dressed in their creations showing their favourite children’s books.

"Executive head teacher Duncan Ratcliffe was really impressed with everyone’s efforts and the enthusiasm for reading that is evident in all pupils."

Five of the T-shirts were chosen as the winning designs and a selection are now displayed in the school entrance and in the library.
