Following on from its success at the SWBBA Contest in November 2018, Redruth Town Band has won the 2019 West of England Regional Championships in the fourth Section, held in Torquay on Saturday.

The band achieved this after competing against 16 other brass bands playing the test piece Stantonbury Festival by Ray Steadman-Allen, gaining them a place at the finals of the National Brass Band Championships in Cheltenham on September 14.

Contest adjudicators remarked favourably which included: "Something really lovely is happening, Really good performance with plenty of shape and fun! I enjoyed this immensely. Bravo band and MD’.

The band have been working extremely hard under their new musical director Andrew Craze and are going from strength to strength.

His professional interpretation and consistent approach to the musical development of the band have improved dedication and commitment, which has brought out the best of all the players raising standards to achieve this remarkable result.

With a busy summer season ahead, funding to get the band to Cheltenham is now a priority.

The band is actively looking for sponsorship from local businesses or any financial support that could assist them with this fantastic achievement. Contact redruthtownband@gmail.com for more information.
