A MAN died at the scene of a crash on the A390 Truro to St Austell road on Saturday evening.

A a silver Jaguar XF driven by a 26 year-old man from the St Austell area, and a green Mazda MX-5 driven by a 32 year old local man were involved in the incident.

As a result of the collision, the 26 year old was pronounced dead at the scene. The 32 year old was taken to hospital with serious injuries.

Police received a number of 999 calls at around 5.30pm on Saturday in relation to the collision, which had occurred on the A390 near to the junction of Coliza Hill, Trelowth.

The area is known locally as St Mewan dip.

South West Ambulance Service and Cornwall Fire and Rescue Service were also in attendance.

Police officers from the Roads Policing Team, including specialist Forensic Collision Investigators closed the road for approximately six hours in order to carry out a thorough scene investigation.
