A year seven student from Falmouth School and her two friends completed a remarkable swim to raise money for a Nepalese charity.

Rosa Davies, Freya Riley and Georgia Osborne, all members of Gyllyngvase Surf Lifesaving Club, swam a total of 10 kilometres between them raising more than £600.

The money will go towards Bright Futures of Bardia, a charity that helps the children of one of Nepal's poorest areas access an education.

Rosa and her mum Martha Dixon will be travelling to Bardia, in western Nepal, next month to help build new classrooms, a science lab and a library.

Martha said: "This was a big swim and we were so impressed with the hard work and dedication of the girls. They swam beautifully right to the finish, although it was hard for them to raise their arms in celebration at the end."

Each of the swimmers beat their own personal records by swimming further than they ever had in the past.

Falmouth School recognised Rosa's efforts by naming her Sports Star of the Week, and wished her good luck for her trip next month.

Bright Futures of Bardia's mission is to empower individuals in the impoverish district and aims to contribute to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals of ending poverty, providing access to education and promoting gender equality.
