Fish Factory Art Space launches its The 5th Lyin’ Politicians Festival project this week from their base on Commercial Road, Penryn and other supporting venues.

The programme has great support from musicians and singers playing for free, including the superb Krelys on Friday the 29th (8pm) and the brilliant Tom Dale on April Fools Day (8pm).

Concert entry fees (except Sunday night) will be non perishable food, which will processed by St Petroc's to feed the homeless and poor.

Other artists, performers and venues are welcome to join and support the festival.

Fish Factory founder Rose Hatcher said: "It would great if some of the music and performances were hard-hitting working class social conscience stuff, but we do know how to dance here too."

On Sunday the 31st during the day (12 till 4pm) it will be entertaining and feeding the homeless for free at The Fish Factory and also be running an advice centre to help with financial issues. Anyone attending with DWP enquiries is asked to bring their National Insurance number).

On Sunday evening 8pm a Tongue In Cheek pub quiz will be held at The Seven Stars on The Moor, Falmouth.

There will also be an exhibition and competition of Satirical Political Art.

Rose added: "We have now closed entries into our competition as the response has been overwhelming, with 40 entries nationwide.

"The best two will be judged by myself as a working artist, photographer and collagist; Anna Sokolska, international satirical artist from Gdansk will act as chairperson; Elzbieta Tegowska artist-curator also from Gdansk; and Tim Wilkins, activist from the Labour Party.

The winners will be announced on Monday, April 1 and invited to a full exhibition invited of their work at the Fish Factory Art Gallery later in the year.
