AN iconic hotel on the Lizard Peninsula will open its doors this Easter after a refurbishment with a twist.

The communal areas of the 41-bedroom Polurrian Bay Hotel have been improved to create a stylish and relaxing environment.

The restaurant features a Gozney wood fired oven and the guest spaces include chill out areas with stylish features as well as retro seating including a customised waltzer.

A decadent new bar will offer a great selection of rums, gins, beers and wines from Cornwall as well as an enticing cocktail list – perfect for sipping whilst watching the sun set over Mount’s Bay.

Along with its contemporary interiors, the hotel, which is perched on cliffs near Mullion, has an enhanced lifestyle to meet the needs of today’s health conscious guests.

And for those who like a little more independence on holiday, there are four stunning three-bedroomed, two-bathroom seaside villas also available. These high-spec villas offer guests their own private space while being able to benefit from all the hotel’s facilities.

Research commissioned to coincide with the launch indicated that the demand for activities which focus on wellness as well as fun are on the increase, that families (particularly with older children) take a more casual approach to mealtimes, and that fresh and tasty food and drink at reasonable prices are a pre-requisite for a memorable stay.

With that in mind, a programme of rejuvenating wellbeing activities will be on offer. Exploring stunning coastal paths on the hotel’s doorstep or relaxing on its very own beach, are perfect ways to soak up the natural beauty and wildlife which make the area so popular.

The cliff-top tennis court and outdoor pool are available for all guests. In addition, kayaking, coasteering, paddle boarding and surfing can also be enjoyed as part of a stay.

The wood-fired oven will produce hand-stretched pizzas alongside the new menu which is inspired by the rustic dishes and bold flavours of the Mediterranean, made using the finest produce from Cornwall’s countryside to its coastline. Dishes will include tapas starters, locally caught fish and mouth-watering desserts including the famous Roskilly’s ice cream.

For a real treat, Elemis spa treatments can be booked prior to or during your stay. Ease aching muscles with a deep tissue massage, re-energise with a superfood facial or just enjoy relaxing with a good book on the spa veranda. As well as the treatments, guests can take advantage of the indoor pool, hot tub and upgraded gym equipment in the Health Club.

For parents of young children, the hotel will also offer a complimentary children’s listening service.

The White Space is available to book for any type of celebration and offers a blank canvas providing the opportunity to create a personalised look and feel.

This private area with its own bar, has a terrace with stunning views and is ideal for smaller non-exclusive weddings, christenings, birthdays and other social events.

Guests can also make the most of all Cornwall has to offer from wine tasting with local family-run vineyard Polgoon and photography sessions, to surf lessons and masterclasses on how to make a traditional Cornish Pasty.
