History meets the present day in more ways than one this weekend when Helston's CAST teams up with the Godolphin Club.

The arts organisation is based in the former 'Green School' building in Penrose Road, which used to hold its school productions in the Godolphin Club - and where CAST will, for the first time, hold an event this Saturday.

Topically, the show itself is also about history repeating itself. Seamas Carey Meets His Four Year Old Self is an hour of heart-warming, ridiculous songs performed by Seamas and Tuesday Night Fun Club, a performance choir led by Vicky Abbott, based in Penzance.

Audience members can expect time travel, nostalgia probing, rave music and tap dancing.

The show is described as "suitable for anyone who is a child or has been a child."

Directed by Agnieszka Blonska, it was originally commissioned for the Newlyn Arts Festival in 2016. It now returns to Cornwall this month before playing at Bristol Old Vic’s Studio Theatre.

Seamas said: "I’m excited to be bringing a rather unusual show to the Godolphin Club, one of Helston’s most established venues, and to be collaborating with CAST, one of Helston’s newest."

The performer, musician and composer has recently formed a non-traditional male voice choir, ‘Men Are Singing’.

He has toured extensively around the UK, Europe and USA, and performed in Kneehigh Theatre’s production of 946: The Amazing Story of Adolphus Tips at the Globe Theatre in London, and WildWorks’ 100: Unearth at the Lost Gardens of Heligan last summer.

This Saturday's performance starts at 7.30pm, with supper available at CAST from 6pm.

Tickets cost £8, from Eventbrite at eventbrite.co.uk.
