FALMOUTH United Youth Football Club has been selected as the first regional group to benefit from a new funding scheme with Persimmons Homes, targeting youth projects.
Falmouth United will receive £1,000 from the Persimmon Homes Building Futures initiative, launched in partnership with Team GB, the British Olympic Association.
Daniel Heathcote, director in charge of Persimmon Homes Cornwall, said: “This fantastic new funding scheme aims to support community groups across three categories: sports, education and arts, and health.
“We are delighted that the first organisation to win is a club that has been serving the communities of Falmouth and the surrounding areas for 25 years, providing football development and competitive opportunities for hundreds of local young people.”
Falmouth United Youth Football Club is a successful family-orientated club which aims to provide opportunities for upwards of 260 children aged from five to 18 to train and play football.
Persimmon’s £1,000 donation will help to fund equipment and kit for the 2019/2020 season.
Falmouth United relies heavily on volunteers and parents. Sponsorship and investment keep the club going so that local children are given the opportunities to play football twice a week.
