A FALMOUTH couple are offering would-be restaurateurs the chance to trial their own business.

Lee Warren and Esther Lochrie, who own The Greenhouse, want to create a pop-up premises, with three-monthly slots up for grabs.

Lee and Esther said: “We have this beautiful, newly refurbished restaurant that’s all ready to go.

"There’s so much scope in Falmouth with lots of pop-ups operating from cafés and other venues, we thought it would be a lot of fun to offer a changing residency.

"It could be a great opportunity for people who have toyed with the idea of running a restaurant before but don’t want to commit to a long lease."

Esther cited the hugely successful Brixton Village pop-up model in London, from which national pizza chain Franco Manca was spawned.

"Taking on a restaurant is a huge commitment on a long-term lease, but the pop-up outlets have worked really well. It's a case of try before you buy. It could create a real buzz, which people talking about the next one before it comes up."

The Greenhouse, which has around 45 covers inside and outside in Bank Place, is currently closed after the couple shut it just before Christmas due to other commitments.

They are keen to chat to anyone interested in a three-month pop-up.

Esther added: "The idea is that people pay a monthly fixed cost that covers the rent, rates, utilities and maintenance of the equipment and we’ll help with promotion through our social media accounts which already have a good local following.

At the end of the three months they would have the option of buying the lease or potentially partnering with us, we’re open to different options.”
