Owners of a Falmouth party shop have branched out by opening a new Truro store after finding success in Cornwall.

Brothers Gareth and Kevin Morgan, owners of The Village Emporium, opened their first business in Kent thirty years ago specialising in DVD rentals.

With the advent of streaming websites, business began to decline and so they decided to shift focus towards selling party supplies.

From then The Village Emporium has gone from strength to strength, with another store opening in Kent and then a third in Falmouth's Boslowick Road in August last year.

Having spent school holidays on Falmouth's beaches growing up, opening the Boslowick shop seemed inevitable to Gareth. He says that so far it has "exceeded expectations".

One of The Village Emporium's most popular offerings is its personalised greetings card and gift service, which was launched two years ago.

Gareth says that unlike similar online services, customers appreciate the convenience of being able to take home a personalised card without having to wait around for delivery.

He said: "The added benefit is that you can actually come into the store and within ten minutes the card is ready to come away with you."

He also agreed that with the brick-and-mortar stores, customers get a clearer idea of what their card will look like with no unwanted surprises on delivery.

The shop offers a range of party supplies from fancy dress to decorations, and can even help to set up venues for events.

The Truro store was opened a fortnight ago in Mallets Ope. For more information, visit: villagepartyshop.co.uk.
