There has been high demand for the new homes in Taylor Wimpey's Chy An Dowr development in Falmouth, according to developers.

In the first two days of sale, 13 reservations were taken.

Developers say that Chy An Dowr's range of houses are "ideal for first time buyers, downsizers and growing families."

The development has not been without some controversy in the past due to delays in construction.

Falmouth town councillor for Trescobeas ward Marcella Morgan described the construction work as "bedlam" last month.

Outline permission for Taylor Wimpey’s development was refused by Cornwall Council January 2016 but eventually allowed on appeal that August.

Developers have been trying to build on the site as far back as February 2014, however, when Cornwall Council refused Midas Commercial Developments Ltd permission to build 153 homes on the same site, on the grounds of impact on the setting of Budock Church, impact on local landscape character and the loss of high grade agricultural land. A subsequent planning appeal was dismissed in January 2015.

Melissa Langton, Sales and Marketing Director at Taylor Wimpey Exeter, said: “We’d had lots of interest in Chy An Dowr in the months leading up to the launch so we’re delighted that the weekend was a real success with a high number of reservations.

"It’s clear that there is high demand for new build homes in the Falmouth area and we’re looking forward to welcoming plenty more visitors over the next few weeks and months.”
