Coastline Housing has welcomed the first 20 families to new homes on its Nansloe development in Helston.

The local housing charity handed over keys to the happy new residents during one big handover day and many of them were all moved in by that night.

Georgina Hayman, development manager at Coastline, said: “This has been a fantastic scheme to work on. As the homes have been coming out of the ground, local lives have also been turned around as people have found their way back into employment in the construction industry.

“It’s also been great to work so closely with Nansloe Academy, our near neighbours on the development, and as part of the Coastline Construct scheme we were also able to regenerate the academy’s allotment area.

“We hope the first residents here will be very happy in their new homes and form a fantastic community together.”

Of the first phase of 20 homes, 14 were offered to local people at an affordable rent and six were offered on a shared ownership basis for people looking to get a step on the housing ladder.

Altogether, Coastline is developing a scheme of 75 homes at Nansloe, with further phases being completed and handed over to residents through to the summer of 2019.

The homes are being built by Mi-space and have provided a training ground for the Coastline Construct back to work programme which has seen a number of unemployed people locally gain experience of working life on a construction site and work towards their CSCS card and future employment opportunities.

Coastline Housing will be advertising the next phases of homes to rent and for shared ownership on its website and social media pages shortly.
