Porthleven residents and visitors will need to show proof of address to bypass road closures in the village during this weekend's food festival.

The closures will be in place on the Saturday and Sunday of the festival between 7am and 7pm, with roads open as normal on Friday.

All routes into the village will be closed to non-residents, visitors or festival staff, with closures at the Methleigh Bottoms, Beacon Road, Torleven Road, Harbour Road and the main Porthleven to Helston road (B3304).

Falmouth Packet:

Residents can still drive in Porthleven if they are able to show proof of address in the form of a driving licence, a utilities bill or similar; and visitors with village accommodation can access the closed roads if they are able to procure a copy of their booking details or other proof of accommodation.

All festival parking this year will be at Methleigh Farm with two routes in, one of which will be along Methleigh Bottoms, meaning that the best route into town for residents will most likely be the B3304 from Helston.

There will be no restrictions for driving within the closed area once access is granted.

Festival organisers have stressed that the closures are intended to help residents and those with a genuine need to access the village by car, and to keep festival traffic out of Porthleven for the weekend.

They have said that feedback received after implementing the system last year was "overwhelmingly positive".
