A spell of decent weather may not last long as The Met Office has issued a yellow warning for strong winds this weekend as Storm Hannah sweeps across the county.

Coinciding with the first day of the Porthleven Food Festival, a spell of strong winds is expected along the south of England and Wales, with a risk of disruption to travel.

Visitors to the county may want to consider making a backup travel plan as some delays to road, rail, air and ferry transport are likely, with bus and train services also affected.

Coastal routes and seaside towns can expect spray and large waves as high winds sweep across the region.

The worst of the wind is expected to strike between 9pm on Friday (April 26) and 3pm on Saturday (April 27).

Some short-term loss of power and other services is also possible due to fallen branches.

The Met Offices advises that anyone travelling in storms, rain and high winds should take care to drive slower than normal to take into account reduced visibility due to rain.

Drivers should also use dipped headlights if visibility is seriously reduced, and ensure that they grip the steering wheel firmly with both hands as gusts of wind can unsettle vehicles.

Not all doom and gloom from the Met Office however, as sunny skies are predicted on Saturday despite the high winds.

Sunday, on the other hand, is expected to be cloudy with a maximum temperature of 13 degrees.
