A woman who was injured during the Obby Oss celebrations in Padstow has died.

Emergency services were called at around 7.35pm after the 34-year-old collapsed in St Saviours Lane and became unresponsive.

Police have this afternoon confirmed that 34-year-old Laura Smallwood, from Padstow, passed away this morning in hospital, where she has been since the event on Wednesday. 

Officers are continuing to carry out enquiries to find out how Laura came to be injured and are appealing for witnesses to come forward.

Detective Inspector Paul Norlund said: "Our thoughts and sympathies are with Laura’s family at this very sad time.

"We continue to follow a number of lines of enquiry to establish how Laura sustained her injuries.

"At this time, we would like to hear from any witnesses and anyone with information, particularly anyone with any relevant mobile phone or camera footage taken around the event."
