Extended opening hours and free entertainment herald the start of summer at the Princess Pavilion in Falmouth this month.

Now open between 10am and 11pm, Monday to Saturday and 10am to 4pm on Sundays, visitors can enjoy a variety of choir, jazz and band nights for free, in addition to the main line-up of paid-for shows and gigs.

The weekly entertainment will see performances from some of Cornwall’s best male voice choirs each Monday, whilst acoustic musicians will take to the stage on Thursdays. Jazz nights will take place each Friday, before the brass bands of Cornwall provide the perfect backdrop for a Sunday afternoon.

The Garden Room Bar & Restaurant is open daily serving refreshments, lunch and dinner.

Run by GLL on behalf of Cornwall Council, the Princess Pavilion combines beautiful gardens and a traditional bandstand with a 600-seat concert hall that has hosted the likes of Ed Sheeran and the Kaiser Chiefs.

“Our aim is to offer a broad range of entertainment that appeals to all ages,” says general manager Hayley May. “The Princess Pavilion has always been one of Falmouth’s historical gems and our team is working very hard to constantly improve our offering. It’s an amazing place and, as someone who grew up locally, I feel very privileged to be here.”

After a hugely successful Cream Tours concert which attracted 800 people on 27 April, the venue’s next big event is ‘Alice in Wonderland’ on 18 and 19 May. Billed as an exciting and playful take on the well-known tale, the family show has a professional cast, catchy songs and plenty of humour. A family ticket (2 adults and 2 children) costs £45.
