Tomorrow is the day many have been waiting for: the Penryn Raft Race organised jointly by the town council and universities.

A grand prize of £50 is up for grabs for the winner, and anybody is welcome to take part with their homemade vessels.

Teams are encouraged to use as little plastic as possible.

One team, put together by Falmouth recycling business Packshare, has gone as far as to make a raft entirely out of packaging waste.

Their ambitious project involved building the vessel entirely out of cardboard, bubble wrap and poster tubes.

Their use of materials reflects the range of reusable packaging available through the online service.

The raft race kicks off at 5pm tomorrow (Saturday May 18) and participants will paddle from Exchequer Quay down to a bouy in Falmouth Harbour.

There will be a briefing at 4pm and presentations afterwards at 6.30pm.
