Penryn's raft race on Saturday drew crowds of spectators as participants paddled it out for victory on the high seas.
The event was jointly organised by the universities' FXU and Penryn Town Council, the latter of which sent a delegation of councillors out onto the water in their homemade vessel HMS Titanic Too to ultimately clinch first place.
Mawnan Marauders, a community team, placed second in the race and HMS Fire Hazard, a student team, came in third.
Students with kayaks and paddle boards were out in full force cheering on their colleagues on the water. The members of the FXU sailing, kayaking and SUP (stand-up paddleboard) clubs also provided safety support on the day.
Packshare, a local business team, placed a respectable fourth with their raft that was made entirely from recycled packaging goods – cardboard, bubble wrap and poster tubes.
Rafts came in all shapes and sizes, some made traditionally from barrels and wood, and others consisting of air beds and milk bottles.
All of the materials were recovered and the teams are committed to ensuring they reuse and recycle them after the event.
