For the first time Cancer Research UK is calling all men, women and children to take part.
Hundreds of people will come together to run the 5k event, celebrating and remembering loved ones that have been affected by cancer.
Money raised through Race for Life will help Cancer Research UK scientists find new ways to prevent, diagnose and treat the disease, helping save more lives.
Ruth Chamings, Event Manager for Race for Life in Penzance, said: “We’re making a final call to the people of Cornwall to sign up today, as their participation and contribution is so important.
“Every day, around 90 people are diagnosed with cancer in the South West.
“That’s why we are calling on everyone in the area, of all ages, to unite and help to make a real difference in the fight against the disease by joining Race for Life now.
“Our events are fun, colourful, emotional and uplifting. You don’t need to be sporty to take part.
“You don’t have to train, and you certainly don’t need to compete against anyone else!
“By taking part and raising money, participants will play a crucial role in helping to turn discoveries made in the lab into new, better treatments for patients across Cornwall and throughout the UK.
“That’s why every person and every penny raised counts.”
The 5k race is part of a series of events in Devon and Cornwall, with other 5ks taking place as well as 10k runs and Pretty Muddy events for both adults and children.
At least one in two people will be affected by cancer in their lives, but more people are being helped each year.
Cancer survival in the UK has doubled since the early 1970s and Cancer Research UK has been key to that progress.
The race takes place on June 5 at 7:30pm, starting in the Harbour long stay car park.
