Exactly 11 months after a mysterious painted circle appeared at a Cornish beauty spot it has reappeared without warning.
The white circle, which fills almost the full width of the road, can be found behind Swanpool Nature Reserve.
There appears to be no explanation for its appearance - and even more bizarrely, is almost an exact copy of one that appeared in the same spot, in July last year.
John Clegg, who discovered the circle and posted a photo on social media, said: "It appeared last year and then gradually faded, but it has just been repainted."
It has led to such imaginative suggestions as an alien landing site, landing pad for a drone, or a new mini roundabout, while one person simply said: "Like a crop circle but a concrete circle."
Benji Collier suggested somewhat drily: "It's called a 'Round Tuit' ['round to it']. The council displays them when people ask about the state of the roads and pot holes."
