The challenges facing Helston in the coming years and what can be done to address them will be debated at a community event this Saturday.

Helston Climate Action group, working with the town council, has organised a day of activities at the Old Cattle Market, looking at climate change and how people can help make the town carbon neutral by 2030.

During the morning, starting at 10am, a drop-in session for parents and children will be held, with volunteers asking people what good things are already happening in the town and also what could be done better.

Then, from 12.30pm, workshops to discuss how the town can get to its vision for 2030.

A spokesperson for the action group said: "During the day we will be asking people what they would like to see happening in our community or in different places within the town.

"What is important to the people of Helston? What positive and inspiring things are already happening in our community that we can build on, and where are they happening?

"This journey needs all of us. We all have a role to play. Come join us in our collective imagining and help shape a way forward for Helston, to carbon neutrality and a brighter future for all."

The results of the day will contribute to a climate action plan for Helston.

Anyone unable to make the event on Saturday but who would still like to contribute ideas can email climateactiongroup@helston-tc.gov.uk.
