AN appeal for witnesses has been launched following a fatal collision on the main road between Falmouth and Truro.

Police investigating a crash on the A39 in March have today issued an appeal for people who stopped at the scene to help to come forward.

Emergency services were called to a collision between a silver Audi A5 and a blue Vauxhall Meriva at the junction of Cove Hill and the A39 at Perranarworthal at around 12.40pm on Saturday, March 30.

A 79-year-old woman, who was the front-seat passenger of the Vauxhall, died at Treliske Hospital on April 3, police said.

Officers are investigating the circumstances surrounding the collision.

Experts from the Serious Collision Investigation Team at Bodmin are appealing for a number of people, believed to have stopped at the scene to offer assistance, to contact them.

They are in particular seeking to hear from a female doctor, a veterinary nurse and the occupants of a small red car that may have been directly behind the Vauxhall at the time of the collision.

Anyone with information is urged to call police on 101, or email 101@dc.police.uk, quoting log 397 of 30/03/2019.
