FALMOUTH Community Youth Football Club has a new home after 35 years at its previous location.

It has moved from its original base on Tregenver Field to Falmouth School, offering the club improvements in facilities, including a storage facility and changing/toilet facilities for players.

The move also ensures better parking for parents and the opportunity to use Falmouth School’s 3G pitches in the event of poor weather.

Chairperson Janine Kennedy said: "This is an amazing opportunity for the club – the larger fields meaning that we have been able to open up our waiting lists to allow even more young people to play free football on a Saturday morning.

"It has been sad saying farewell to our former base of 35 years at Tregenver, but the new facilities at Falmouth School offer outstanding opportunities for our members and we didn’t want to miss out on using these."

The ethos of the Community Club is free football to all members and the club says that will continue in its new home.

The club has just taken on a volunteer fundraising officer, Karen Yems, who will be helping the club to raise the money to pay for this new facility.

She said: "It’s an extremely exciting time to be joining the club. We have already been grateful to receive funding from a number of sponsors and organisations including Falmouth Town Council, to help to pay for the move, which will eventually include a new storage container and new equipment."

Falmouth MAT, which runs the school, has agreed to offer a 50 per cent discount rate on the facility so that free football can continue in the future.

The club is looking for companies and organisations who would like to support the club and ensure that as many young people as possible get out on a Saturday morning to enjoy free football, learn new skills and meet new people.
