ANOTHER fuel price cut is heading motorists' way this week as the supermarket price war continues.

After rising from a 2019 low of around 113.9p per litre for petrol, prices have steadily risen over the past few months, hitting 127.7p at Asda in Penryn and heading above 130p in other places.

Diesel has remained relatively steady during the rise in petrol prices, generally either side of 130p.

Prices started to drop as oil prices fell earlier this month, with Sainsbury's and Morrisons the first to annouce cuts.

This morning Asda at Penryn had dropped further, to 123.7p for petrol.

Now, Sainsbury’s, which has petrol stations at Helston and Truro, has said that it will reduce the price of diesel further by up to 4p per litre and unleaded by up to 3p per litre from Saturday (June 15).

David Pegg, fuel buying manager for Sainsbury’s, said: “As we head into the busy summer months we are committed to helping our customers live well for less, whether they’re stocking up on groceries or refuelling their cars. That’s why we’re dropping the price of diesel by up to 4p per litre and unleaded petrol by up to 3p per litre across our forecourts from June 15 . This is the second time we’ve dropped prices on fuel in as many weeks."
