Penwith College is holding its annual art exhibition from June 26 to 30.

Entitled 'objects of vertu', it will be held in a new venue this year with students' work spread between Penzance School of Art and the former library building next door on Morrab Road.

Simon Hartles, the college's art and design lecturer, said: "This really is a wonderful space. The light lends itself to artwork, the building is full of history and the former library used to be used as an exhibition space for the many and varied artists that taught and studied at Penzance School of Art through the ages.

"These include Walter Langley, Stanhope Forbes, Barbara Hepworth, Graham Sutherland, Bernard Leach and Lamorna Birch to name but a few lecturers and students from a very long list of successes. Our students recognise the gravity of exhibiting in the same space as some of their art icons. Iā€™m sure it will be a great show.ā€

The exhibition is open every day between 9am and 6pm from Wednesday June 26 to Sunday June 30 closing at 4pm on the Sunday.

This exhibition encompasses all of the art faculties of the college including painting, drawing, printmaking, graphic design, photography, ceramics, textiles, wood carving, and stained glass, offering a chance to see work being created by students from a variety of courses.

Entry is free and everyone is welcome.
