A FRUSTRATED Daubhill resident feels let down by the council, claiming that duvets and bags of rubbish have been piled up in his back street for three months.

Adil Patel, who lives in Venice Street, said the problem is at its worst in Back St Helens Road and Back Venice Street.

He said: “It’s like a landfill site. Duvets have been there for three months and the amount of rubbish just keeps increasing and increasing.

“It started with people just leaving bags there, then if people wanted to park, they’d just pick the bags up and throw them somewhere else.

“Drugs are being hidden inside all the rubbish and in bins as well.”

Mr Patel claims he has reported the issue to Bolton Council on a number of occasions but cannot seem to get anybody to come and sort out the issue.

He added: “When you ring the council, it’s like they’re pointing fingers and you, asking if it’s your rubbish and if you have any proof. They don’t seem bothered or willing to do anything.”

Bolton Council admitted that it is a problem area and encouraged people to continue to come forward to report flytipping.

A spokesman said: “This area has historically been targeted by thieves stealing commercial waste and dumping it in public streets once they have gone through it. Council enforcement officers have visited local businesses to ensure all waste is being disposed of appropriately.

“We rely on the public to report instances of flytipping so we can keep our public spaces clear and find those responsible.”
