The team from visitor attraction Cornwall Gold ditched their daily routines to take on the challenge of creating a garden installation for a primary school.

The new peace garden was created on June 7 for the children at Crowan Primary School in Praze-an-Beeble and is themed around the Egyptian Key of Life.

It is hoped that the garden, built in one day by the volunteers and designed by head teacher Paul Hunkin, will provide a place for remembrance and friendship.

Mr Hunkin describes his joy at the work that has been done saying: “We are delighted with the efforts of the Cornwall Gold volunteers and parent helpers in building our new ‘Peace Garden’.

He added: "The children already love the story-telling chair and scented plants, and they are very keen to get started on further planting.”

The garden will serve partially to remember Mrs Sarah Dobson, a cherished teaching assistant who worked tirelessly for the school over the eight years that she was there and tragically lost her battle with cancer in 2012.
