There is just over a week left to support a Falmouth illustrator in her bid to get her children’s book published and help save the planet at the same time.

Artist and mum-of-two Eve Bourrat has worked with author Michelle Cassar on the book Seb and Polly Planet on their Ocean Quest, which currently has 89 per cent of its funding but needs a final push to become a reality.

A Crowdfunder campaign has been set up to finance the book, with anyone pledging receiving a gift in return.

The illustrated chapter book is aimed at children age five and above, taking a fresh approach by concentrating on the Three Rs – Refuse, Reduce and Re-use.

Through the adventures of daring Seb, who is led the way by superhero Polly Planet, children learn about the effects of plastic pollution, and what they can do to prevent it.

The illustrations have been provided by Eve, who studied illustration for three years at Falmouth University and now works under the name Creat’eve Illustration. She is also a former Falmouth Packet employee, working in the production department for six years.

Proceeds from sales of the book will be donated to a number of organisations preventing plastic pollution: City to Sea, Plastic Oceans UK and Plastic Free July.

Books can be pre-ordered and money pledged at crowdfunder.co.uk/sebandpollyplanetbook.
