A Falmouth care home celebrated its 50th birthday.

Langholme, in Arwenack Avenue, was visited by former mayor Geoffrey Evans who opened the event.

Kate Bateson, administration manager at Langholme, said: “After days of rain the sun finally made an appearance and we were delighted to welcome friends, families both local and international, former colleagues, local businesses, neighbours and town councillors.”

The care home’s chef Gabi Pooley baked a selection of cakes which she served to guests with the help of other members of staff who had all given up their weekend to volunteer.

Senior carer Simon Belby also celebrated his birthday the same day.

Kate said: “We were absolutely delighted with the turnout, the weather and a marvellous time was had by all.”
