A 21 year-old man stamped on his mother's head and gouged her eyes in a booze-fuelled attack.

Dylan Thomas Fuller Jones, pleaded guilty to two charges of assault and one of criminal damage when he appeared before Truro magistrates today.

Jones, of Barncoose Terrace, Illogan Highway, had been drinking at a rugby club for a "considerable period of time" said prosecutor Anita Kennett.

He returned home to find his mother and girlfriend and was "difficult from the outset", before trying to gouge his mother's eyes out, striking her to the ground and stamping on her head five times with a shod foot.

The women tried to put him in a vehicle to restrain him but he became verbally abusive, shouting as his mother "you big, fat c***" and calling his girlfriend "a little b**ch".

He was also vomiting and wet himself.

Charles Hulley, defending Jones, said that he had no recollection of the incident after "putting a pint of vodka and rum to his mouth and drinking it" at the rugby club.

Magistrates told Jones, who wept throughout the hearing, that they had insufficient powers of punishment and sent the case to Truro Crown Court for sentencing.

The maximum sentence magistrates can impose is a six-month jail term.

Jones admitted assault occasioning actual bodily harm on his mother and assault by beating his girlfriend. The criminal damage of £100 was inflicted on his mother's car.

He was released on unconditional bail and is due to appear in crown court on July 25.
