Think of an event associated with strawberries and cream and most people would say Wimbledon – unless you’re in Helston.
Helston Community Hospital’s annual summer fete by the League of Friends has become almost just as synonymous with the summer treat and this year was no exception, with plenty of pots served up.
Sales of these, along with afternoon teas consisting of a huge array of homemade cakes, plus various stalls and a large raffle, helped produce the end total of £1,440.
This will be spent on improvements to patient facilities and purchasing new pieces of equipment.
Commander Martin Barlow from RNAS Culdrose opens the fete
The fete on Wednesday was held in glorious sunshine, which meant much of it could take place outside.
It was opened by Commander Martin Barlow from RNAS Culdrose, with Helston’s mayor John Martin also giving his support.
League of Friends president Dr Ken Whittle said he was delighted with the support of the staff, committee and the public who came along to help raise funds.
