Judges from the South West in Bloom awards visited Falmouth today to assess the quality of the town's public gardens.
Jim Collins and Richard Budge were particularly impressed by the community's involvement in sprucing up the town with various plantings.
Richard Budge said: "You've got an excellent team of gardeners down here, you really do achieve some fantastic things. It's great to be able to go round and just look at all the community groups, the schoolchildren so enthusiastic, you really should be proud of what you're all achieving.

"At the end of the day, like I always say to our team, we do it for today but it's not about today, it's about the lasting effect of what we do and how it brings good feeling to people who visit you, the visitors that it brings, in the money it brings in from the economic point of view, I think that's what we all do it for."
Jim Collins added: "I was very impressed by the community side of what you've done."
Falmouth's gardens have an impressive track record having won many awards at both the regional and national level including last year's overall South West in Bloom award.
Mayor Steve Eva said: "I think we've been very lucky with the weather, I think it's absolutely perfect. I live in this town and it's looking very nice, and I think that what we did and what you lot put on for the judges is tremendous, and I thank you on behalf of the town."
The South West in Bloom Awards will be held in Newquay this year, date TBA.
