MATT Buchan and Jack Bowyer scored two goals each as Falmouth Town ran out 5-0 winners in their pre-season friendly at Mullion.

Buchan gave the visitors a half-time lead with a curled effort, before adding another with a lob shortly into the second half.

Luke Johnson made it three less than two minutes later before Bowyer netted the fourth on the hour, who then completed the scoring with a bizarre tap-in midway through the half.

Mullion threatened early on with Phil Cattran dragging a shot wide before Buchan came close with a fierce drive at the other end.

Town began to take advantage with Buchan forcing another save out of the goalkeeper after Sam Pickup had fired narrowly wide.

But Mullion had a purple patch of their own and were close to scoring with a couple of 25-yard efforts.

But the visitors edged in front just before the half-hour when Buchan cut in from the left flank and curled the ball into the goal from 15 yards.

Mullion nearly managed to level before the break with Cattran stinging the palms of Ryan Barnes with a powerful effort.

Buchan nearly added to his tally within two minutes of the restart but saw his effort from a tight angle strike the crossbar.

But he wasn't to be denied much longer and he doubled the lead on 50 minutes with a cool lob over the onrushing goalkeeper from the edge of the box.

Johnson was on hand to make it three a couple of minutes later with a powerful finish from close range.

It was four within the hour with Bowyer getting in on the act with a cool finish into the bottom corner from ten yards.

Bowyer then completed the scoring in farcical fashion in the 72nd minute, walking the ball in unchallenged after the Mullion goalkeeper completely missed a backpass.

There was confusion ten minutes from time when Martyn Duff went down as he took a shot, with some Falmouth appealing for a goal or a penalty, but the referee waved the protests away.
