THE Greenbank Hotel in Falmouth plans to 'go bigger' next year after hailing its second Gin Festival as a big success.

The sold-out event was a huge success, the hotel said, and will see the festival return for a third year in 2020.

The event was held throughout the hotel on Saturday (July 13), from the Water’s Edge bar, through to The Sundeck and lounge areas, concluding in The Riverbank Suite. Tickets included a G&T on arrival, samples from a variety of distilleries and a keepsake branded gin glass, as well as live music and gin demonstrations.

A total of 15 gin suppliers from the south west, including Agnes Arber, Holly’s Gin, Curio, Salcombe Gin, Plymouth Gin, Wrecking Coast and Rock Gin, were offering free samples of all the weird and wonderful flavours of the popular tipple.

Live performances throughout the day included Will Keating, Miranda Brooke, Jumping Out Jazz and Falmouth Soul Sensation. For gold ticket holders, the evening concluded with a DJ set, dancing and lots of gin sampling.

Bar manager, Yohann Thuillier, said: “As the popularity of gin continues to rise nationwide, and our last gin festival was such a huge success, we thought it would be the perfect time to celebrate once again.

"We had top gin suppliers joining us for the event from Cornwall and further afield. Rum, Cornish Champagne, liqueurs and wine were also thrown in for good measure!

"The atmosphere was buzzing all day, with live music and plenty of gin tasters being poured. Next year we plan to go even bigger!”
