A CAMBORNE man who contacted or communicated with a child under the age of 16 has received a community order from Bodmin magistrates.

Mark Mankee, aged 41, of Hughville Street, admitted committing the offence on July 24 in Camborne, having been prohibited from doing so by a sexual risk order made by Cornwall magistrates on Tuesday, February 5 this year.

He has been ordered to carry out 120 hours of unpaid work within the next 12 months and must pay £85 costs and £90 victim surcharge.

A sexual harm prevention order was also imposed, with the following prohibitions:

1, Having any contact or communication of any kind with any child under the age of 16, other than a) such as inadvertent and not reasonably avoidable in the course of lawful daily life or b) with the consent of the children's parent or guardian (who has knowledge of the order) and with the express approval of the public protection unit for his local police force

2, Reside or sleep in any household, dwelling, vehicle, tent, caravan or boat where there is also present any child under the age of 16 , unless with the express approval of the public protection unit for his local police force.

3, Use or possess any device capable of accessing the internet unless a) it retains and displays the history of internet use and b) he makes the device available on request for inspection by a police officer.

4, Delete the history of internet use on any device which he has used or which he owns.

5, Possess any device capable of storing digital images unless he makes it available upon request for inspection by a police officer (this may include removing the device to allow a technical examination).

Mankee was also required to register with the police in accordance with the Sexual Offences Act 2003 for seven years.
