A man walking along the road early this morning has been left with "potentially life changing injuries".

Just before 1am police were called to the A30 near Penzance, over reports of a collision between a car and a pedestrian.

The injured man was taken by ambulance to the Royal Cornwall Hospital in Truro, with wounds described by police as "potentially life changing."

The driver of the vehicle was uninjured and no other vehicles are believed to be involved.

The road was closed to allow an investigation by officers.

A police spokesperson said: "The male casualty is stable and undergoing treatment at hospital for his injuries."
