ASSAULTING police officers on two separate occasions has resulted in a prison sentence for a Redruth man.

Jack Gary Curry, aged 25, of Chapel Street, admitted committing the first offence on June 6, in Truro.

The second offence towards a different officer took place on August 6, also in Truro.

He was jailed for 17 weeks "because of a deliberate attack on a public servant carrying out public duties, previous convictions, the severity of the bite to the officer and comments about HIV", said magistrates.

For the first offence in June he was also ordered to pay £200 compensation and for the August charge he has to pay £75 compensation and £122 victim surcharge.

A 21-year-old man drove without insurance.

Craig Mark Mallett, of Wheal Jerry, Camborne, admitted committing the offence in Station Road, Pool on February 26.

He was fined £170 and ordered to pay £30 victim, surcharge and £100 costs. His licence was endorsed with six points.

A MAN has been jailed for 24 weeks for two assaults on women and damaging a mobile phone.

Jonathan Steven Richards, aged 33, of Trevenson Street, Camborne, denied all three offences but was found guilty by magistrates.

He committed the assaults in Truro on January 27 and between January 26 and January 28 of this year, as well as the damage to the phone.

Magistrates sentenced him to prison because of the severity of the assault, the fact that he was in drink and the vulnerability of the victims.

They imposed a restraining order not to contact the victims for two years.

He was also ordered to pay a total of £630 compensation, £750 costs and £115 victim surcharge.

FAILING to give information relating to the identification of the driver of an alleged offence has resulted in a fine for a Truro man.

Darren Raymond North, aged 51, of Highertown, committed the offence on March 25.

He was fined £660 and ordered to pay £85 costs and £66 victim surcharge. His licence was endorsed with six points.

EXCEEDING a 30mph speed limit has resulted in a fine for a 52-year-old man.

Matthew William Sillifant, of Oyster Boathouse, Port Navas, near Falmouth, admitted committing the offence in Leicestershire on December 19, 2018.

He was fined £70 and ordered to pay £30 victim surcharge. His licence was endorsed with three points.

A PENZANCE man drove without insurance.

Oliver John Borissow, aged 35, of Polglaze Close, committed the offence in a Renault on March 27.

He was fined £660 and ordered to pay £85 costs and £66 victim surcharge. His licence was endorsed with six points.

USING a hand-held mobile phone whilst driving has cost a 32-year-old man dearly.

Kyle James Crowle, of Seymour Close, Threemilestone, committed the offence in Charles Street, Truro, on March 24.

Patrick Vaughan Trembath, of Pengersick Estate, Praa Sands, committed the offence at Lower Treluswell, Penryn, in a Peugeot on March 22.
