Porthleven Lifeboat Day is back on tomorrow, albeit in a smaller capacity.

Earlier this week it was announced that the event had had to be cancelled due to Sunday’s poor weather forecast.

With a yellow weather warning in place and gusts of up to 60mph, organisers said it was not possible to put up the marquee and other equipment needed, and that safety must come first.

However, after rallying round, the RNLI Porthleven and District Branch has created a smaller event that will take place between 10am and 5pm tomorrow.

This will include stalls on the Harbour Head and at Porthleven Public Hall, where there will be souvenirs to buy, raffle tickets on sale and children’s activities.

All money raised at the event will go to RNLI Penlee.

On Thursday one of the organisers, Chris Freer, had said on Facebook: "We appreciate that the weather forecast for Sunday may be somewhat better, however without having been able to set-up beforehand, we have taken the decision to cancel the event for this year."

He said at that time that the committee were trying to put on a smaller event, with more details to be announced when things were finalised.
