In the face of strong winds and many events having to cancel, Helford Passage Regatta pulled out all the stops this year.
Fewer races could be held on the river, but that didn’t stop the crowds from turning up and joining in.
Huge support was given to all the rowers who ventured out, cheering them on whether or not they made it around the mark.
Commemorating the moon landing, the children entered into the spirit of the “Out of This World” fancy dress theme with rockets and flying saucers, and everyone loved their close encounter with the RNLI who came to show off their impressive new inshore lifeboat.
Alison Simmonds of the regatta committee said: “We’re really thrilled to have broken all records and raised over £3,000 for RNLI Falmouth from the day’s activities.
We’re really grateful to everyone who ignored the forecasts and came along to join in and support the event.”
Next year’s regatta has been set for Saturday, August 8. Keep an eye out for more details nearer the time on www.helfordpassage.wixsite.com/regatta
