The Lizard Lifeboat launched early this morning to rescue two sailors who found themselves in trouble 22 nautical miles off the coast of Lizard Point.

A 25ft yacht was unable to sail after its propeller became caught on a rope in the water.

The lifeboat RNLB Rose launched at 6.11am to assist the two sailors on board.

It arrived at 7.05am and the crew successfully freed the rope from the propeller and safely recovered it from the water.

The lifeboat crew shadowed the yacht afterwards to make sure the two sailors were able to make their own way.

RNLB Rose arrived back at the station at 8.35am.
