Masked men carrying a machete and a piece of wood launched a late night attack on a man in his twenties.
Police have confirmed that the 24-year-old victim, from Penzance, suffered serious injuries including cuts to his face, arm and leg, a broken jaw and the loss of a number of teeth.
The incident happened in a park area in Hea Road, Heamoor, at some point between 9.50pm and 10.20pm on Sunday.
A police spokesperson said: "Police carried out a search of the scene and located a machete and a piece of wood."
Officers investigating the attack have launched an appeal for help to find two male suspects, who they said were wearing dark clothing and white masks at the time of the incident.
