A TEENAGER suffered life threatening injuries in a crash on the A30 last night.

Emergency Services flocked to the scene near Chiverton Cross just after 11pm.

A Devon & Cornwall Police spokesman said: "An 18 year old man local to the Truro area received life threatening injuries after the red car he was driving collided with a white panel Van.

"He was airlifted to Derriford Hospital where he remains in a critical condition."

Numerous South Western Ambulance Service Trust  (SWAST) resources attended the scene that was identified as being on the A30 single carriageway, north east of the roundabout at the junction with an unclassified road that leads to the A390 to Truro.

Police, including specialist officers from the Roads Policing Team and Armed Response Unit attended the scene, putting in road closures and launched a full forensic examination.

The road was reopened just after 6am.
