A COASTAL search was launched following reports of a lost person late last night.

Porthoustock Coastguards were paged to the search between Coverack and Porthallow on the Lizard Peninsula.

The team gathered at the station to put a search plan together when we were informed by its operations room that the casualty had made contact, stating he was lost between Coverack and Lowland Point.

With the search area now narrowed down, two teams of four were sent out to look between Coverack and Dean Point.

Shortly after setting off from Coverack one of the search teams located the 81 year-old casualty and checked him over.

He was found to have small cuts and some bruising to his head from a possible fall but otherwise well.

He was transferred to his guest house where he was checked again and it was decided to call for an ambulance given the bruise and swelling on his head.

The casualty was transferred to hospital for a thorough check.

The team closed down on station ready for the next tasking at 2.15am.
