DESTROYING a mobile phone has resulted in a fine for a Truro teenager.

Jacob Curgenven, aged 19, of Trelander North, admitted committing the offence on August 21.

He was fined £200 and ordered to pay £100 compensation and £32 victim surcharge.

A PENSIONER who denied breaching a ban on keeping farm animals has been found guilty of the offence by Truro magistrates.

Vivian John Exelby, aged 76, of Little Borthog, Carnhell Green, was guilty of maintaining fencing on his land to make the field stock-proof, whilst at the same time having the sole custody of 17 cattle.

He had previously been disqualified from doing so after conviction and sentence by Cornwall magistrates on November 21 last year.

He had admitted 12 charges of subjecting farm animals to poor living conditions, resulting in a community order.

An order was also made under section 34 of the Animal Welfare Act 2006, banning him from having any responsibility of all farm animals.

In court on Monday (September 9), he was given an 18-month conditional discharge and ordered to pay £1,000 costs and £20 victim surcharge.

A WOMAN who sent 66 offensive and abusive text messages to the same man has been issued with a restraining order.

Christine Leida Lindsay-Jones, aged 35, of Holmans Court, Camborne, admitted committing the offence on March 9.

Magistrates imposed a restraining order not to contact the recipient of the texts.

She also received a 12-month conditional discharge and was ordered to pay £85 costs and £20 victim surcharge.

A 36 year-old man was sent to prison for two counts of criminal damage and another of breaching a restraining order.

Kai William Arthur Owen, of no fixed address, admitted committing the offences in Redruth on September 5 and 6.

He destroyed a glass panel door to the value of £200 on September 6 and on the previous day, he destroyed two fence panels, side balustrades to lounge decking, greenhouse door glass, side gate, tray holder, shed, padlocks and shed door to the value of £80.

In committing the second offence, he also breached two parts of a restraining order which had been imposed by Bodmin magistrates on March 14 this year.

He was jailed for six months because of the "nature and circumstances of the offence and history of offending".

He was also ordered to pay a total of £280 compensation.

MAKING indirect contact with a woman has resulted in a fine for a 21 year-old man.

Toby James Williamson, of Prospect Place, Hayle, admitted requesting her bank details via a third party which he was prohibited from doing by a restraining order imposed by magistrates on April 29.

He was fined £80 and ordered to pay £85 costs and £30 victim surcharge.

A 52 year-old man has pleaded guilty to pursuing a course of conduct amounting to harassment.

David Kirk Clifford Bendle, of Wheal Trelawney, Redruth, contacted the victim, attended her home and approached her in public between January 21 and February 19 this year.

He was fined £864 and had a restraining order imposed, forbidding him from contacting her directly or indirectly for two years.

He was also ordered to pay £85 costs and £86 victim surcharge.

LEAVING abusive answerphone messages on a woman's phone has resulted in a community order for a 50 year-old man.

Grayham Mark Cooper, of Roachs Row, Redruth, admitted committing the offence between March 27 and May 9.

He harassed the victim also by making excessive telephone calls and being directly abusive towards her.

The offence activated a two-year conditional discharge order on Nomveber 13 2017, which had been imposed following another harassment charge.

He has been placed on electronic monitoring for three weeks and must fulfil a Rehabilitation Activity Requirement.

He is also the subject of a restraining order prohibiting him from direct or indirect contact with the victim.

Magistrates also ordered him to pay £85 costs and £85 victim surcharge.

A TEENAGER who was in charge of a motorcycle whilst over the alcohol limit was also found to be in possession of cannabis and cocaine.

Kray Bray Ashleigh, aged 18, of Henfor Close, Marazion, admitted committing the offences at Hayle Railway Station on August 17.

He had 66mcgs of 100mls of breath, exceeding the legal limit of 35mcgs.

He was in possession of 1.26g of cannabis and 0.32g of cocaine.

Ashleigh was fined £128 and ordered to pay £85 costs and £32 victim surcharge. His driving record was endorsed with 10 points.
