A Camborne town councillor is once again organising the annual Camborne & Redruth Charity Walk.

Now in its sixth year, the event created by Graham Winter has raised thousands of pounds for local charities so far.

He said: “The number of fundraisers taken part each year has slowly risen and many local charities have benefitted.

"In 2017 over 100 walkers took part, I’d like to see double that.  It’s so easy for anyone to join in, there is nothing to organise, just gather some sponsors and come and join in."

This year the walk will take place on Sunday, September 29 and there is still time to sign up.

Many charities are finding funding harder to come by these days, so here is an opportunity for people to get out and support their favourite local charity.

The event has enjoyed wonderful weather in recent years and has proved an extremely enjoyable walk surrounded by some of our finest mining heritage scenery.

The sponsored walk will take place along part of the Great Flat Lode (approx 10km) starting and finishing at Heartlands.

Fundraisers will be able to raise money for any charity of their choice. Each walker will be asked to make a £5 donation towards running costs (any surplus donated to the Mayors’ chosen charity).

To register, fundraisers should visit the event website or Facebook page.  Sponsor forms and posters are available from the website too.
