Members of the Kernow Hang Gliding Association attended the open day held by the Cornwall Air Ambulance Trust and were delighted to hand over a cheque for £1,256 in support of their drive to buy a new helicopter.
It was an emotional visit for Graham Phipps, chairman of the KHPA, as he was airlifted to Derriford Hospital by the Air Ambulance following a serious motorcycle accident in 2018.
He welcomed the opportunity to thank the paramedic who treated him at the accident scene and to have the details of the aircraft explained.
While at the open day, members took the opportunity to refresh their CPR skills and learn about the latest defibrillators.
